This exercise explores your writing skills and the manner you develop an essay. Since it is considered a diagnostic narrative, it will not be graded for grammar and spelling; however, it does count as a participation grade and specific presentation objectives need to be met. I will evaluate the essay and offer suggestions that will apply towards your other projects.
OBJECTIVES
• Length: 100-200 words
• Reply to the question honestly; explore multiple answers and situations.
• Due Friday, 09.16.11
• Write neatly on notebook paper, skipping every other line.
• Informal, personal voice allowed.
THEME: What is your Writing Style and/or Process? There are numerous approaches you may take with this theme:
1.
Relate a personal memory of a past experience with the writing process.
2.
Narrate the steps and concepts you undertake when establishing an idea.
Before beginning a project do you clear off your desk, start laundry, or grab a pint of Guinness?
3. Describe the emotional process that ties in with the creative writing process:
do you find the development of an essay frustrating? —exciting? —calming? —torturous?
Give specific examples and descriptive language.
